About Vinayaki-Yoga
The Vinayaki-Yoga Style
A journey to yourself
Holistic Hatha yoga after Swami Sivananda, enriched with elements from various yoga styles such as Yin yoga or Vinyasa yoga - mindful, practical and with room for the spiritual dimension.

The style
My yoga classes
My yoga classes are based on the holistic Hatha yoga of Swami Sivananda. Into these I also let elements from other directions flow, such as the calm Yin yoga or the flowing Vinyasa yoga.
For me, yoga is a way of living that reaches beyond mere exercises on the mat. That's why I share down-to-earth knowledge with you that you can let flow into your everyday life.
Vinayaki-Anne
Sivananda Yoga
Holistic and classical — body, breath and mind as one.
Yin Yoga
Calm and deep: postures that may be held for a long time.
Vinyasa Yoga
In flow: movement and breath join together.
The roots
Who was Swami Sivananda?
Born on 8 September 1887 in Pattamadai (Tamil Nadu) as Kuppuswami, Swami Sivananda grew up in a religious family. He studied medicine and worked for years as a doctor in Malaysia — until he set out in 1923 to devote his life entirely to yoga.
In Rishikesh on the Ganges he met his teacher and was initiated as a monk. There he founded the Divine Life Society in 1936 and the Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy in 1948. In more than 200 books he made yoga and Vedanta accessible to a wide public. He died on 14 July 1963 in Rishikesh.
He became known for the “Yoga of Synthesis”: it joins Hatha, Raja, Jnana, Karma and Bhakti yoga into one path that addresses the whole person — body, breath, mind and heart. From this union of medicine and spiritual practice grew a yoga that demands no performance and is accessible to every body. That is exactly what the Vinayaki-Yoga style builds on.
“Serve, love, meditate, realise. That is the way. That is yoga.”
What awaits you
The building blocks of my classes
In my classes I offer you a selection of techniques that enrich body, mind and soul.
Pranayama
Breathing exercises
Pranayama uses the conscious direction of the breath as a way to awaken the life energy (prana) in the body and steer it deliberately. This breath control harmonises the flow of energy and at the same time fosters deep inner calm and mental clarity.
YOUR PRACTICE AT HOME
Keep practising between classes
The VYC Sahitya app stays with you beyond the yoga class, with guidance and gentle support for your own practice at home. The guided pranayama breathing exercises are already there for you; content for asanas, meditation and relaxation follows step by step.

The spiritual dimension
Yoga as a way of living
The spiritual dimension has its firm place in my classes too. It can help you find and strengthen your inner balance - on the mat and in the middle of everyday life.
