First things first: the 108 Sun Salutations are by no means a must! You look after yourself and your body, and we'll celebrate together every round you complete - whether you manage 10, 20 or 108 rounds.
Schedule:
108 Sun Salutations are an intense Yoga practice, traditionally practised on special occasions such as the turn of the year. The idea is to let go of the old and welcome the new. In the Yoga tradition, the number 108 has a spiritual meaning:
What's more, the Indian gods have 108 names, there are 108 Upanishads, and Mala prayer beads have 108 beads.
The practice serves to purify, to strengthen discipline and to connect body, mind and breath. Practised as a group, it creates not only a personal experience but also a strong sense of connection and community. The energy of the group can carry you beyond your own limits.
We would like to donate the participation fee of €10 per person to a charity project in Africa, which was founded by Felix and Ingrid Lorenz from Lauenburg.
Felix and Ingrid Lorenz from Lauenburg are renowned collectors and patrons of Makonde art from Tanzania. As a captain, Felix Lorenz sailed to Dar es Salaam for the Deutsche Ost-Afrika-Linie and developed his passion for the masterful ebony sculptures there. The couple own one of the world's most important private collections of this art form, which was exhibited with 80 pieces at the Alexander Koenig Zoological Research Museum (Bonn) in 2011. They travel to Tanzania at least twice a year, enjoy a legendary reputation among the artists as patrons, and, through the sale of artworks, directly support schools, hospitals and social institutions in Africa.
