Reiki

Everything is energy

Quite simply, everything around you vibrates. Reiki is an energy practice meant to stimulate your self-healing powers and to support processes of relaxation and healing. Your universal life force is invited to flow freely again — Reiki works on body, mind and soul.

Origin & Meaning

Universal life energy from Japan

Reiki has its origin in Japan - developed by Mikao Usui (1865–1926). The term denotes a universal life energy and is made up of the Japanese words rei (soul, spirit) and ki (life energy).

The concept of ki corresponds to the Chinese Qi and the Hindu Prana - the breath of life. Through special breathing exercises - Pranayama - yoga brings body and mind together. I am happy to show you how that works in my yoga courses.

So Reiki, too, is energy work and acts on body, mind and soul.

The word Reiki

霊気

rei — soul, spirit
ki — life energy · Chin. Qi, in yoga Prana

Your session

How a Reiki session unfolds

1

Arriving & first talk

At the start we talk about how you are feeling and what kind of session you'd like — your whole body, or selected areas in focus.

2

A channel for the life energy

As the one giving Reiki, I see myself as a channel for the universal life energy — it flows to you through my hands.

3

Holding or laying on

I hold my hands above your body or lay them on — we agree beforehand on whatever feels right for you.

4

Deep relaxation

During the session you usually feel a deep relaxation — a sensation of warmth may arise as well.

5

Sensing afterwards

After the session we talk about how you feel and what you noticed.

Good to know

Reiki is not a therapy and does not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.

With psychological and/or physical conditions, Reiki can only work alongside and in support — as a preventive practice it can accompany you towards a wholly healthy way of living.

“If Reiki is spread throughout the world, it will change the heart of people and the morals of society. It will be helpful for many people — not only to heal illnesses, but the Earth as a whole.”
