Unfortunately, due to the current weather conditions, we have had to cancel the event. We will provide you with a new date soon.
Let's start the new year together with 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar)!
Surya Namaskar is a term from Sanskrit (सूर्यनमस्कार sūryanamaskāra and Hindi: सूर्यनमस्कार sūryanamaskārr m.), in which Surya stands for sun and Namaskar means something like a bow - Sun Salutation, greeting to the sun or even a prayer to the sun.
108 Sun Salutations are an intense Yoga practice, traditionally practised on special occasions such as the turn of the year. The idea is to let go of the old and welcome the new. In the Yoga tradition, the number 108 has a spiritual meaning. One possible explanation goes like this:
What's more, the Indian gods have 108 names, there are 108 Upanishads, and Mala prayer beads have 108 beads.
The practice serves to purify, to strengthen discipline and to connect body, mind and breath. Practised as a group, it creates not only a personal experience but also a strong sense of connection and community. The energy of the group can carry you beyond your own limits.
But here's what matters: the 108 Sun Salutations are by no means a must! You look after yourself and your body, and we'll celebrate together every round you complete - whether you manage 10, 20 or 108 rounds. You should already be familiar with the sequence of the Sun Salutation for this event.
The participation fee of €10 per person is used to cover the room rental. Whatever is left over, we donate to a good cause.
